The venue is the first big decision of any wedding, and it shapes everything after it: the budget, the guest experience and the look of every photograph. Across Ahmedabad, Baroda, Surat, Rajkot and beyond, couples usually choose between four kinds of venue. Here is how we help them decide.
At a glance
| Venue type | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Party plots & lawns | Large guest lists, garba and sangeet nights, big décor | Weather, sound timings, power back-up |
| Banquet halls | Receptions, compact guest lists, any season | Ceiling height for décor, fixed in-house rules |
| Resorts | Multi-day weddings with guests staying on site | Room blocks, food minimums |
| Heritage properties | Royal-themed weddings and photo-led couples | Restrictions on fire, nails and décor load |
Party plots and lawns
The classic Gujarati wedding venue. Lawns give you space for a grand mandap, a garba ground and a separate dining area. They are a blank canvas, which means décor does most of the work. Always plan a covered option and check the venue's sound rules for late functions.
Banquet halls
Banquets are reliable in any weather and easy for elderly guests. They work best for receptions and smaller functions. Check ceiling height and rigging points before you fall in love with a chandelier concept.
Resorts
For destination-style weddings closer to home, a resort keeps guests in one place, which makes hospitality, transport and timings far simpler. Negotiate the room block early.
Heritage properties
Palaces and heritage hotels in Gujarat and Rajasthan offer instant grandeur. They also come with rules about fire, fixings and load, so plan décor with the venue team from day one.
Questions to ask every venue
- How many functions can it host, and can it turn around between them?
- What are the rules on sound, fire (havan, fireworks) and outside vendors?
- Is there power back-up and enough parking?
- Where will guests stay, and how far is it?
- What is the wet-weather plan?
Tell us your guest count and the experience you want, and we will shortlist venues that fit both.
